Nature trail Nax-Eison

Saint-Martin/Suen

In 1995 developers on the right bank of the Borgne (Nax-Vernamiège-Mase and St-Martin) completed a Nature Trail from Eison to Nax, at an average altitude of 1,600 metres.
Covering 15 km, it crosses beautiful forests, opens onto flowering meadows, runs along three successive bisses, spans rushing streams and passes alongside characteristic high-altitude chalets.

The entire trail is marked out with simple larch boards and is admired by many walkers. However, a true Nature Trail is only as interesting as the descriptions and engaging facts provided on the area itself. To this end, tourist offices in the region offer hikers a wonderful illustrated guide. It describes the fauna, flora, forests, bisses, the remains of ancient "chesal" constructions, high-altitude chalets, rural areas, the wetlands of Vernamiège, the legend of the Stone of the Children and the hydraulic saw.
Each description corresponds to a number that can be found on posts along the trail made by specialists. Go explore! You will be enchanted. Happy walking!

Getting there: from Nax the starting point is at the sawmill and the end at Eison. However it can be easily accessed from each of the above-mentioned villages.
