Hike to Arolla's blue lake / Lac Bleu
The Blue Lake of Arolla (2'090 m.) is located at the bottom of the Val d'Hérens in an enchanting alpine site in the middle of a wonderful flora.
In this enchanting environment, at the edge of the blue lake you will also find beautiful picnic places. You can go up there from La Gouille in 45 minutes or from Arolla in 1h30 (easy path by Pramousse).
The first part of the itinerary is ideal for lovers of alpine flora: on either side of the path, large rhododendron bushes cover the ground and the rocks. You're walking at an altitude of almost 2000 metres.
As the trail becomes less steep, we enter a larch wood. Their wide and tortuous trunks are a reminder that some of these trees, emblematic of the Valais, are several hundred years old. We enjoy the coolness of the forest before the ascent.
Chalets with slate roofscling to the mountainside. It's a good sign: there are only a few feet away left to climb in full sunshine to reach the goal of this walk and to enjoy the coolness of the *Blue Lake*.
