Snowshoe trail: Grange Neuve - Prarion
Between Grange Neuve and Prarion, this 1.8 km educational trail invites you to discover winter from a new perspective: that of the animals that inhabit our forests. With only 98 meters of elevation gain, 20 meters of elevation loss, and a duration of about 50 minutes, this route is accessible to all, culminating at an altitude of 1,734 meters, and is perfect for a family outing.
This trail, located between Suen and Trogne, teaches you how to recognize the tracks left in the snow by the animals of our region. Keep your eyes peeled along the way: you may spot the fleeting footprints of a hare, the discreet passage of a badger, or the elegant tracks of a fox. With a little luck and a lot of silence, it's not impossible to surprise one of these forest dwellers.
The trail also emphasizes respect for wildlife in winter: a sensitive period during which animals need to conserve their energy. You will learn how to behave responsibly in order to protect their peace and quiet.
To take your discovery further, we recommend the guide “Identifying Animal Tracks,” written by Robert Bolognesi and illustrated by Maté Mermoud, a fascinating resource for anyone curious about nature, available for purchase at our office.
